  • Bush Family Home Summer Camp

    Grades 3-6: June 3, 5, and July 8, 10

    Grades K-2: June 17, 19, and July 22, 24

    Get ready for our 2025 Bush Family Home Summer Camp! No matter what your child is interested in, we should be able to catch their attention with any one of these great themes for each day! We'll have Cowboy Day, 1950s Games Day, Bicycle Safety Day, and a day full of STEM where we go over the science and history behind some of the old technology in the house!

  • Casa Navarro 

    Camp Bexar Cocina

    June 14 and 28, and July 12 (Saturdays)

    9 a.m.-noon

    Casa Cocina will be a three-part series occurring on June 14, June 28, and July 12. Each session will be a cooking class aimed at families. We will be cooking different historic recipes from San Antonio ranging from pan de campo to chili queen chili!

    June 14: Pan de Campo and Aguas Fresca
    June 28: Charro beans and Salsa
    July 12:  Chili Queen Chili

    Frontier Trailblazers: A Day of Adventure at Fort Griffin

    June 7 (Saturday)

    9 a.m.–4 p.m.

    Step back in time and experience a day in the life of a young frontiersman at Fort Griffin Family Summer Camp! This immersive, hands-on experience will teach kids essential skills used by scouts, cowboys, and pioneers on the Texas frontier.

    • Learn to navigate using a compass and measure distances by pacing.
    • Discover the secrets of trail marking and hand signals used by explorers and scouts.
    • Put your skills to the test in a frontier scavenger hunt!
    • Enjoy an authentic chuckwagon lunch and see how cowboys cooked on the trail.
    • Get up close with Texas longhorns and witness an old-fashioned branding demonstration.
    • Try your hand at roping a dummy steer, just like a real cowboy.
    • Cap off the day with campfire songs and storytelling under the wide Texas sky.

    This one-day camp is perfect for families who love history, adventure, and the great outdoors. Come make memories, learn new skills, and leave your mark on the frontier!

    Texas Frontier Adventure

    For this two-day summer camp, you and your child will experience the trials and hardships of traveling through the Texas frontier. This action-packed learning experience will have the whole family walking away with a greater understanding of our traveling ancestors and a fun experience for all. Ages 8 and up; parents encouraged to attend with their children.

    Explorers of the Past: A Historic Summer Camp

    Explorers of the Past invites kids to step back in time and discover our historic site's rich history and natural wonders! Through hands-on activities, nature hikes, and exciting challenges, campers will uncover the stories of the past while exploring the great outdoors. Whether solving history puzzles, scavenging through nature, or crafting like pioneers, each day promises a fun-filled adventure connecting the past with the present.   • Port Isabel Lighthouse

    Lighthouse Keeper Camp

    August 6–8, 14–16 (Wednesday to Friday)

    9 a.m.–noon

    Experience the life of a modern-day lighthouse keeper and travel back in time nearly 500 years for stories of shipwrecks and rescues. Includes activities, a treasure hunt, and a stroll to the top of the lighthouse.

    The Adventures of Stephen F. Austin 

    July 8–11, (Tuesday to Friday)

    9 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

    Join San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site for a fun week of camp activities! Campers will learn about Stephen F. Austin, the town of San Felipe de Austin, and the Texas Revolution. Campers will also participate in activities related to historic school lessons, historic printing, hearth cooking, and more.

  • Magoffin House

    Adobe Kids Class 

    June 12 & 20 (Thursday and Friday)

    9 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

    Looking for a fun and educational summer activity for your child? Bring them to the Magoffin Home State Historic Site for our Adobe Class for Kids, where they’ll discover the art and science behind one of the oldest building techniques in the Southwest!

    What to Expect: 

    • Hands-on experience making and shaping adobe bricks.
    • Learn about the history and importance of Adobe architecture.
    • Interactive activities are designed to spark creativity and curiosity.
    • A chance to explore the beautiful Magoffin Home, a stunning adobe structure dating back to the 1870s.

    Give your child a memorable summer experience where they’ll get their hands a little dirty while learning a lot about history, architecture, and craftsmanship. Make sure to dress them in clothes that they can get dirty. Snacks and Water will be provided. Please bring your own hat, sunblock, and bug repellent.
